Dr Collighan is a full-time Consultant in Pain Medicine, and was previously Lead Clinician for Pain Services, at East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust.

Dr Collighan has a private practice at the One Ashford Hospital in Ashford Kent and also at the BMI Chaucer Hospital in Canterbury and the Spencer Private Hospital in Margate. He also has six years’ experience in preparing and submitting medico-legal reports with regards to assessment of pain management and other requirements.

He has been awarded the Fellowship for the Faculty of Pain and has, with a colleague, established a neuromodulation service in East Kent. This service provides spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal pump placement.

Clinical Guidance

Dr Collighan was co-Chair of an editorial group that developed the Guidelines for Medial Branch Blocks and Radiofrequency Denervation of lumbar facet joints in the United Kingdom. The Guidelines have been recently published, see here.

Clinical Audit

Dr Collighan believes clinical audit is important in consistently promoting clinical excellence and is currently the audit lead for the Pain Department in East Kent . He is aiming to introduce a minimum data set to allow the department to consistently measure performance and outcomes.

He has been involved in clinical audits throughout his career.
